Terms of Service

Last updated: February 17, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Candela memorial platform ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Candela provides digital memorial services including memorial pages, digital prayer cards, guestbooks, candle lighting, photo galleries, and related features. The Service is designed to honor and preserve the memory of loved ones with dignity and care.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.

4. Memorial Content

You retain ownership of all content you upload to the Service, including photos, text, and other materials. By uploading content, you grant Candela a limited license to display, store, and process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

You are responsible for ensuring that content you upload does not violate the rights of others. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms or applicable law.

5. Privacy and Data Protection

We understand that memorial content is deeply personal. Your privacy is fundamental to our service. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your information.

6. Acceptable Use

The Service is intended for creating respectful memorials. You agree not to use the Service to upload harmful, offensive, or fraudulent content, or to impersonate others. Memorial pages should honor the memory of real individuals with dignity.

7. Service Availability

We work to keep memorial pages available and accessible, but the Service is provided on an "as available" basis and we do not warrant uninterrupted or perpetual availability. We may perform maintenance or updates and will make reasonable efforts to minimize disruption and preserve memorial content. Where we describe a memorial as "permanent," we mean it has no scheduled expiration; this does not guarantee availability in every future circumstance, including if we discontinue the Service (see Section 8).

8. Termination, Data Export, and Discontinuation

You may close your account at any time, and on request we will provide an export of your memorial content before deletion. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

We may also discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, for any reason. If we discontinue the Service, we will give you at least 90 days' advance notice by email and provide a window during which you can download a full export of your memorial content, so your memories are never lost. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is," and our total liability for any claim relating to the Service or its discontinuation is limited to the total amount you have paid us for the Service.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Contact

If you have questions about these terms, please contact us at [email protected].
