Getting Started

What is Candela?

A digital memorial platform for funeral homes. Create permanent memorials with Apple Wallet prayer cards, photo galleries, guestbooks, and candle lighting for the families you serve. Setup takes about five minutes per memorial.

How does setup work?

Any staff member creates a memorial from a web browser. Enter honoree info, select a prayer and theme, upload a photo, and generate a QR code. No software to install, no hardware required.

Can my staff create memorials?

Yes. Organization accounts support multiple staff members with role-based permissions. Directors and staff can create and manage memorials from the organization dashboard.

What’s the onboarding process?

There is no lengthy onboarding. Create an account, set up your organization, and start creating memorials immediately. We offer a guided walkthrough for teams that want a personal introduction.

Pricing

How does pricing work?

Per-memorial pricing with no subscriptions or contracts. Two channel options: Pro (purchase at partner pricing, set your own rates) or Essentials (families pay directly, you earn thirty percent commission).

What are the channel options?

Pro: you purchase memorials at partner pricing and set your own rates. Essentials: families purchase at retail pricing and your funeral home earns thirty percent commission. Both include zero platform fees on donations.

Is volume pricing available?

Yes. Funeral homes serving ten or more families per month can contact us for volume pricing. Designed for multi-location providers and funeral home groups.

What do families see on their credit card statement?

Families will see "Candela Memorial" on their credit card or bank statement.

The Family Experience

Do families need accounts?

Visitors do not need accounts. They scan a QR code and tap once to save the prayer card. Families who want to add photos or manage the memorial create a free account.

How do attendees get prayer cards?

Display or print the QR code at the service. Attendees scan with their phone camera and add the card to Apple Wallet with one tap. No app download or personal information required.

What do families see on the memorial page?

A permanent memorial page with the honoree’s photo, dates, selected prayer, photo gallery, guestbook, candle lighting, and life timeline. Visitors can contribute photos and leave messages.

Privacy and Security

Where is data stored?

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Candela never sells or shares personal information with third parties. Funeral homes retain full custodianship of memorial data.

What about HIPAA?

Candela does not process protected health information. Memorial content (names, dates, photos, messages) is not PHI. We offer a Data Processing Agreement for partners upon request.

Can families control who sees the memorial?

Yes. Memorials can be set to private (link only) or public. Role-based permissions give coordinators control over content and visibility.
